31
let's have some FUN
On April 20th, I turned 31 (yes my birthday is on 4/20, when else would it be?!?!) I loved being 30, so I was a bit sad to leave that age behind, but I personally love getting older. I’m now at the age where I’m still young and childless enough to do fun things but everything is also nicer. Gone are the days of splitting one hotel room with 15 girls, GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE!
Two weekends ago we attended weekend 1 of Coachella and got to stay in the Safari glamping tents on the grounds, which is a tent with a hardwood floor and two queen beds. We went with two of our best friends, Mal & Mathilde (of the hit podcast MADE IT OUT) so we had (a very reasonable) 4 girls in one tent. The best part was the golf carts that picked us up and dropped us off at each stage, a way to avoid the insane amounts of walking in the sweltering heat & dust so characteristic of Coachella. I went into the weekend saying it would be my last Coachella and left saying I have a few more in me.

The day we returned from the desert, my bestie Olivia Tiedemann came to stay with us for the week. It was her first time in California!!! As the talented private chef she is. she made me the most delicious birthday brunch. We had french toast with a maple berry compote, bacon, fried eggs, and cheesy stuffed HASH BROWNS. My birthday fell on a Saturday so I threw myself a birthday party, which now that I say that out loud kind of seems like bad luck?! Anyway the theme of the party was Alix in 31DERLAND, which I thought was very clever. I actually thought of that theme exactly one year ago, at my Malibu Barbie themed 30th. I’ve really found a love of throwing a themed party, it must be the Taurus in me. We drank tequila out of teapots, had a hookah station, and a chocolate fountain, lots of playing cards and light up mushrooms for decor. I think my favorite part of being in our new house, is finally having enough space to host.

The party was a smashing success, and when I say that I mean nothing smashed to pieces, like it has at our previous parties!!! Every time I throw a big party, I say I never want to do that again. Then a few months pass and I start to get the itch, forgetting all about the torture that is cleaning up the next day.
Speaking of the itch, I woke up this morning and found a bug bite on my arm, of course Zoya didn’t have any bites because I am more delicious than her!!! I had a meltdown and convinced myself that we had bed bugs. I ripped off the sheets and every piece of dust and dirt I found looked like a creepy, crawly, critter. Zoya kept telling me it was just lint, but obviously I couldn’t take her word for it. So I called an emergency BED BUG EXTERMINATOR. I even cancelled a meeting because I had so much bug anxiety, it gave me a splitting headache. The exterminator came within a few hours and confirmed my worst fear, that I am just crazy.
THIS IS 31!
Love you all, happy weekend.
